Project Description

PROJECT OVERVIEW :
The project involves vocational and business training for 24 women and adolescent girls to learn tailoring skills. At the completion of their course, they will be set up in groups of 4 to receive a sewing machine, zipper maker and display case to take back to their communities and start a tailoring business to make clothing out of material provided by their customers.

PROJECT ACTIVITIES :
1. Operating sewing machines (manual/electric) and Basic hand stitches and machine stitches
2. Taking body measurements and Pattern making and drafting
3. Sewing different types of clothes and Making real products (shirts, skirts, blouses, children’s wear, traditional wear, school uniforms, dresses, bags, etc.)
4. How to start a tailoring business and identifying market demand.
5. Income generation through tailoring services

BUDGET & FUNDING SOURCES :
• Total Project Cost in NPR : 3,021,000
• Club Contribution in NPR : 150,000
• Partner Support in NPR : 2,871,000 (USD 19,800)

BENEFICIARIES :
• Direct : 24 Women and Adolescent Girls
• Indirect : 144 persons (24 Families)

MEASURABLE IMPACT / OUTCOMES :
1. 100% Trainees able to independently operate a sewing machine and Number of garments produced per trainee during training.
2. 100% start their own tailoring business.
3. 100% Reduction in dependency on family income.

SUSTAINABILITY PLAN :
1. Provide sewing machines and toolkits that can be used
long- term
2. Graduates establish home-based or group tailoring
businesses
3. Regular follow-up with graduates
