Project Description
A comprehensive cancer awareness and screening camp was organized with the aim of increasing timely information, identification and access to treatment about cancer in the community. At a time when the risk of complex diseases like cancer is increasing, a total of 270 women and men, including 167 women and 103 men, were screened for cervical and prostate cancer in the camp organized by the Rotary Club of Hetauda, Rotary Club of Makawanpur and Rotary Club of Yala. Four women and seven men tested positive for cervical cancer in the health camp.
Managed by Jagran Savings and Credit Cooperative Society Ltd. as the local organizer, this camp provided local residents with detailed information on early signs of cancer, risk factors, screening procedures and prevention. A team of health workers and specialist doctors provided free screening services for breast cancer, cervical cancer, throat cancer, prostate cancer and other common cancers.
The camp was well attended by members of the Rotary Clubs, members of cooperatives, active volunteers from the community and representatives of local bodies. In addition, doctors and health technicians from Nepal Cancer Hospital and Research Center Ltd. and Silverline Hospital, Balaju provided examination and treatment services.
